| I had read quite a few damning reviews about this little cybertoy and bought it with some reservations but after loading the latest 5.03 firmware it really rocks... and greatly exceeds my expectations. Got it here for 125ukp but notice this has now gone up. Great fun, educational, easier to set up than expected, good interface. Good tutorials on uTube. They have even attempted to bypass ActiveX with Java - still to try. Finds its way home 99% of time. Hangs only very occasionally and gives you and the kids and idea of what it must be like driving a robot explorer on Mars! Good value at 125ukp, average value at 250upk unless you are really into botics and throwing money around but hey each to their own.. |
Great fun!

I was hesitating for a while to buy this gadget since I've read some bad reviews of it but after owning it for a few weeks I think it's just great.
Have been for holidays a few weeks and have been able to check on the appartment whilst away and even talk to our neighbours when they have attended our flowers. Their kids loved when we where chasing them around!
At work it is a success, people think it's awesome and showing it on iPhone is really impressing.
Furthermore I managed to scare the s-t out of an inspector that checked our appartment when noone was at home :)
It can get stuck when pressing "go home" so if doing when you're not at home it can be a good idea to check that it really docks, otherwise you can dock it "manually" by driving it to the docking station.
The lamp is rubbish and you can't navigate in bad light, but I will probably by the extra headlights.
The navigation system is a bit limited, it only works within 3-4 meters
Overall it is a great toy, actually more than just a toy, it is a way of checking your home whilst away. It is possible to talk to people through Rovio but there's a lot of echo. |
